Are they really Invisible?

Invisible swimsuits are not technically invisible but they come as close to it as possible. The material they are made of causes the swimsuit to in essence disappear when wet, causing the illusion of no swimsuit at all. Some of them also give the appearance of being invisible because the color is so near the person’s skin color. If modesty is what you are looking for when purchasing a swimsuit, then these are not the swimsuits for you. While most of the invisible swimsuits can be worn in public, even these should not be worn in the water unless you’re feeling brave. As soon as the swimsuit comes in contact with water, the material appears to disappear and you will appear to be wearing nothing. This of course, would not be appropriate for wearing on a public beach with kids around, unless of course it is a nude beach because that is what you will essentially be happen when your bikini or swimsuit gets wet. These are more suited to a private swimming area where a couple is looking for a little fun in the sun.

What materials are they made from?

While the material will vary the most common material used to manufacture invisible swimsuits are ultra sheer Lycra, gauze, mesh and sheer nylon. These materials are the sheerest and offer the most translucency, some more than others.

Are they available for men and are they easy to find?

Good news ladies, invisible swimsuits are not gender specific. They are available for men as well. As with the ones made for women, the same rules apply with getting them wet, they will become “invisible.” Men also have a choice of material, color and style just as with women’s suits.
