When I shopped for a bathing suit recently, I wanted something that would get my new and improved body noticed and I definitely managed to do that when I bought an invisible swimsuit. They’re not really completely invisible but the color of them are so close to my skin tone (even when I’m tanned) that I appear to be wearing pretty much nothing at all. On my latest trip to a beach in Thailand I definitely managed to turn quite a few heads & you wouldn’t really expect it there as there are plenty of exhibitionists there.

Lets take a look at the different bikini styles available and how to choose the bikini which is most flattering to your figure.

String Bikinis – for those with an enviable figure who want to flaunt it, the string bikini is barely there, as the name suggests fastened by tying string like pieces of fabric together this bikini is incredibly sexy and eye-catching. It’s flirty and fun and suits those with youth on their side looking for fun in the sun!

Micro Bikinis – as the string bikini only smaller if you can imagine that! Often the Bikini bottoms are Thong or G String with the bikini tops tiny triangles of fabric just covering the bare essentials. For those who’ve earned the right to wear a micro bikini by spending most of their time in the gym to be in tip top condition and deserve to parade the results of their hard work for all to see!

Invisble Bikinis – for the real exhibitionists amongst us. A string or micro bikini with the added benefit (if you can call it that) of being see through. Only for the brave, but definitely the hot new look for 2010.

Plus Size Bikinis – No girls you don’t need to cover up if you have a fuller figure, these days there are so many flattering cuts for the fuller figure that you can literally knock inches off how you look by choosing a well fitting bikini. Mix and match tops and bottoms to suit your shape from high cut legs and halter tops to tankinis (they leave less exposed in the middle) there are styles to suit all shapes and sizes (see our Full Figure Section for more info)

Sexy Bikinis – All Bikinis are sexy providing they fit right and you feel happy and confident in them. Don’t wear a bikini thats too tight and creates flesh fighting to get out, likewise a bikini that has gone baggy in the water and is literally hanging off will do you no favours no matter how slim you are. Choose a colour that suits your skin tone and have fun accessorising with sarongs etc.
